Lameness Investigation

We offer thorough lameness investigations at your yard. We perform thorough lameness investigations to include the use of joint and nerve blocks , portable radiography and ultrasonography, as well as software to aid in tracking subtleties in lameness. We perform treatments, formulate rehabilitation plans and follow up visits to monitor performance and progress. We offer regular soundness checks for competition horses to help maintain them in peak performance. We strive to find the best solution tailored for your horse’s and your individual needs.

We are using SLEIP: a cutting-edge AI technology for detection of subtle asymmetries (up to 2mm) in the horse’s gait. Sleip helps us to establish a baseline movement pattern and to objectively control the progress of rehabilitation. Results can be easily shared with other equine professionals for the best approach to your horse’s health. In formulating treatment programmes , we work closely with various farriers and physiotherapists so as to reach the best outcome for your horse.

Equine Lameness Investigation Ireland

We use various modalities to perform local, intra-articular and intra-lesional treatments:

  • Corticosteroids: potent anti-inflammatory agents injected directly into the affected area to reduce pain and inflammation.
  • Hyaluronic acid: often combined with steroid injection into joint cavity to improve lubrication.
  • PRP: Platelet Rich Plasma: Concentrated preparation of growth factors that stimulate cell growth, reduce inflammation, and promote healing. Often used in tendon and ligament injuries
  • Alpha-2-Macroglobulins: concentrated preparation of naturally occurring protein that inhibit proteases degrading cartilage and neutralising pro-inflammatory cells.
  • Stem cells: These are mesenchymal umbilical cord stem cells which have a great capacity for tissue adaptation and regeneration
  • Mesotherapy: series of superficial injections into the affected area (usually neck, back or pelvic region), containing anti-inflammatory and analgesic agents. The goal is to break the pain pathway and subsequent restricted mobility in the area. It can be combined with other treatment modalities including intra-articular injections and physiotherapy.

We utilise ready-to-use formulations of regenerative therapies, offering the advantage of quick treatment on the farm with quality-tested products.
